Fabio holds a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh and completed the Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication at the ETH in September 2016. For his master thesis, he focused on the potential of robotic fabrication for bending glue laminated wood veneers. From 2017 to 2021, he joined the NCCR Digital Fabrication as a Research Collaborator for the Gramazio Kohler Research Group, supporting Dr. Ena Lloret-Fritschi in Smart Dynamic Casting.

Expanding his focus into the realm of Extended Reality (XR), Fabio has seamlessly connected his expertise in the robotic fabrication of concrete structures to pioneering work in augmented sculpting. This innovative intersection demonstrates his ability to blend traditional fabrication techniques with cutting-edge XR technologies. His exploration of immersive technologies extends into VR game design, where he has applied his knowledge to create engaging and interactive virtual environments. Additionally, Fabio has developed interactive AR mobile applications, leveraging his skills to enhance user engagement through augmented reality. His role as an XR integrator has been crucial in advancing VR applications for healthcare, specifically in surgical training. Beyond his technical accomplishments, Fabio is also a co-lead of the Immersive Design Lab within the Design++ initiative, further evidencing his leadership in the integration and advancement of XR technologies. This work exemplifies his commitment to leveraging XR technologies to improve training methodologies and outcomes in critical sectors.
